Seminars for 10th–13th grades

Hiding places, food ration cards, and forged documents – Dimensions of resistance to the persecution of Jews

Duration: 3 hours

In this seminar, the young people examine the course of successful and unsuccessful rescue attempts. This also involves analyzing the basic conditions and interpersonal dimensions of the actions taken as resistance to the Nazi persecution of Jews.

One issue addressed will be the living conditions of Jews in hiding: What was their situation like during the war? What did it mean to go into hiding? Who could they ask for help and who could they trust? How did the Jews find a place to stay and how did they get food? Another aspect related to the dimensions of resistance were the circumstances of the aid they received: Under what conditions did the helpers act and what risks did they take?
