Ursula Meißner grew up in Berlin. During the 1930s, she was the only girl in her class who successfully refused to join the Bund Deutscher Mädel (BDM, the Nazi youth organization for girls).
In 1943, Ursula Meißner was an actor at Berlin’s Schauspielhaus. Her parents were acquainted with Curt Weiss, a Jew married to a non-Jewish woman. At the start of March 1943, he received a visit from Manfred, Margarete, and Konrad Latte, Jewish relatives from Breslau. Himself in danger, he did not dare to take them in. Instead, he asked Ursula Meißner to accommodate the family of complete strangers. She instantly agreed. She was living alone in her parents’ large apartment in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg and introduced her guests to the building’s other residents as “bombed-out friends.” The Lattes stayed several weeks until neighbors grew suspicious.
After the war, Ursula Meißner acted at the Theater am Schiffbauer Damm. Konrad Latte applied for the Israeli Holocaust memorial center Yad Vashem to honor Ursula Meißner as Righteous Among the Nations, which it did in 1995.
