Klavdiya Gerasimchik, late 1940s.

Klavdiya Gerasimchik lived with her parents Pavel and Lyubov in the village of Szubków (now Shubkiv, Ukraine). She had two siblings, Galina and Nikolay Gerasimchik. The family ran a small farm.
In September 1942 Klavdiya’s father Pavel Gerasimchik brought friends to the farm, the Jewish Khomut family. Isaak and Polina Khomut and their daughter Laura had escaped from the ghetto in neighboring Tuczyn (now Tuchyn). Over the following 18 months, Klavdiya Gerasimchik’s family hid the endangered Jews in their barn.
The Israeli Holocaust memorial center Yad Vashem honored Klavdiya Kucheruk née Gerasimchik as Righteous Among the Nations in 1999.
